Armory Collegiate Invitational 2005 team titles go to the Arkansas men and the LSU women


 
    Arkansas, coached by John McDonnell, won the men's team championship with 83.5 points in its first visit to the meet. LSU was second with 73. Georgia was third with 71 1/3 and Tennessee a close 4th with 68 5/6. All are SEC teams. Pat Henry brought his new team, Texas A&M to the meet, and they finished a respectable 6th with 32 points.

     In the women's team competition, LSU, coached by Dennis Shaver, won a very close women's competition with 68.5 points, just two points ahead of Arkansas and South Carolina who tied for second with 66.5 points each. Stanford, returning to the meet after a two year absence and now coached by Edrick Floreal, was fourth with 52 points. Penn State came to the meet for the first time and Beth Alford-Sullivan's team finished 9th with 24 points.
"My kids came here and saw what it really takes to compete with the best," said Coach Alford-Sullivan.
